Delphine Jones Obituary

Delphine Jones started her incredible life journey on September 14, 1961 and transitioned peacefully, surrounded by family & close friends on May 8, 2024. Delphine attended Booker T. Washington High School and ultimately landed a career with the U.S. Military Sealift Command serving naval vessels for over 30 years. One of the common experiences with Delphine was how much she made everyone she encountered feel like family.

During her career, Ms. Jones rose in the ranks from entry level support staff to serving as an Jr. Officer. While she loved the accomplishments she was able to enjoy on ships such as the U.S.N.S Leroy Grumman, the U.S.N.S John Lenthall, and the U.S.N.S. Patuxent, her ultimate joy was her family.

Ms. Jones leaves behind two children, Kenneth L. Jones and Krystal D. Whitaker, along with a devoted bonus son, her son-in-law, William D. Whitaker; three grandchildren, Keondre, Za'reek, and Kazzidy (her "grand-beauty"); a loving mother, Delores G. Jones and a host of close friends, shipmates, and relatives. She is predeceased by her father, William Johnson and her grandmother, Eva J. Blocker.
