MIke Obituary

In Loving Memory of Mike Jones

Mike Jones, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 29th, 2024, at the age of 57 from a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was surrounded by his family and fur kids, who are heartbroken over the loss of such a thoughtful and gifted man.

Mike was born December 27th, 1966, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Mike loved the water from an early age, and one of his fondest memories was being on the Chesapeake Bay with his mom, Carol, and dad, Bob Jones. At an early age, Mike was inspired by a desire to travel. His father ran the Peugeot Automobile plant in Nigeria for five years. During that time, Mike played polo, met the royal family, rode a camel in Egypt, and spent time in Tunisia. When they left Nigeria, Mike and his family came to the Phoenix area, where Mike excelled at sports, loved listening to Run DMC, and helped his father run bartending schools. It is where Mike learned a love of sales and a gift for talking with people. Mike was an astute businessman who always did what was best for the client, a skill he learned from his father, Robert.

For over two decades, Mike was the dedicated owner and operator of Discount Air Care, where he built a reputation for his honesty, integrity, and exceptional service. In 2019, the Chamber of Commerce awarded Mike the Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Mike’s generosity knew no bounds, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He donated thousands to causes, and sponsored Little League teams and chamber events. Mike donated free units to those in desperate need who could not afford to replace their unit, often did free service calls, and worked on Sundays at no additional cost to customers. On Friday, May 17th, the family will learn if Mike was awarded the Business Person of the Year, which his peers nominated him at the Chamber.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike will be remembered for his warm heart, infectious laughter, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. He adored his Sunshine, Julie. Mike was Julie’s biggest cheerleader, and together, they lit up a room with their love for each other. He is a devoted father and mentor to Konlin (Donna) Jones, a beloved son to Carole(Dennis) Mortensen, a mentor and teacher to his employees, and a cherished friend to many. Mike also leaves behind his extended family Debbie (Byron) Durham, Linda Jahn, and Joe(Connie)Rosolek.

Mike enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending quality time with his family in his free time. One of Mike’s biggest passions was spending time with his rescue dogs Roscoe, Prancer, and Rocky. Mike would wake up at 3:30am during the summer to walk his buddy, Roscoe. Mike also loved the tiny home recently purchased in Pinetop. It was an opportunity for him, Julie, and the dogs to enjoy the views, reconnect with each other, and be in cooler temperatures. Mike enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially when he could be with his family. Preceding him in death are his fur buddies Satan, Rosie, Foxy, Sammie, Nougie, Mickey, Chumley, and his father and mentor, Robert Jones.

Mike leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched.

Mike's life will be celebrated on May 18th at 6:00pm at the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce Patio, 16837 E Palisades Blvd, Fountain Hills, 85268. As a veteran of the US Army, Military Honors will start the service promptly at 6:00 pm. The family will begin to welcome people at 5:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Enduring Business Legacy in Fountain Hills or directly to the chamber. We aim to dedicate and name the patio after Mike.

Forever in our hearts, forever remembered, Mike's spirit will live on, reminding us to cherish every moment and spread love and kindness wherever we go.
