James "Jim" Eveland Obituary

James “Jim” Eveland, age 84, died Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Jim was born November 19, 1939 to Shalby and Hazel Eveland and was a graduate of Elcho High School. His mother remarried into the Burton family and Jim became very close to his stepfather Roy, Grandma Mary and his Aunt Ethel whom he spent his childhood on Post Lake growing up.

After earning a degree from Milwaukee Technical College in electrical systems, he spent 40 years working in the electrical field.

He also had a broker’s license and developed Heritage Estates in Post Lake, WI. He was a board member of the Post Lake Improvement Association.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors walking on his property by the lake. He and Charlene became snowbirds, spending time in Arizona, which they enjoyed very much. They loved their many travels over the years, which included a couple cruises, a trip to Canada, and a dream vacation to Hawaii with Charlene’s sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Ed Stetzenbach, who Jim was very close to.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Charlene of Post Lake, a son Scott (Joan), proud grandpa to 5 surviving grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by 2 sons, Steven and James, 3 brothers: Shalby, Ronald, and Eugene, and a brother-in-law Ed Stetzenbach.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21 from 11:30AM until 1:30PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 PM at the funeral home.

Interment will take place at a later date at Elcho Cemetery.
