Beverly "Bev" Ann Cassidy Obituary

Beverly “Bev” Ann Cassidy, 87, of Waterloo, died on May 15, 2024, at Friendship Village in Waterloo.


She was born on August 2, 1936, in Otterville, Iowa, the daughter of Johnny and Bernice (Bantz) Olsen. Bev graduated from Quasqueton High School. On June 7, 1958, she was united in marriage to John Cassidy. The couple made their home in Cedar Rapids for a time before moving to Waterloo. Bev worked as an administrative assistant for John Deere for 21 years until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. Friendships were more quality than quantity to Bev.


Bev was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a grandson, Chance Barrett. 


She is survived by two children, Rick (Carol) Cassidy of Denver, Colorado and Lisa (Clint) Barrett of Evansdale; three grandchildren, Emily, Blake, and Leah Cassidy; three great grandchildren, Carson, Callum, and Reese; and a brother, Roger Olsen.


Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Waterloo, followed by entombment in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum. The visitation will be on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street.
