Luke T. Jones Obituary

Luke Thomas Jones, age 38, of Tallahassee, FL and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away at his parents’ home on Monday, May 13, 2024. Born January 8, 1986 in Harrisburg, he was the son of Randall E. Jones and Debra A. Lauver-Jones of Mechanicsburg.



Luke recently earned his Ph.D. in biological sciences from Florida State University where he had been teaching and conducting research during the course of his doctoral program. Luke was a kind soul who loved animals, especially his pets. He enjoyed photographing birds and spending time at St. Marks Wildlife Refuge. He had a passionate interest in all things biology but also loved astronomy and computers. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.



In addition to his parents, he is survived by his longtime partner, Sarah Kettelkamp; his brothers, Kyle Jones and wife Marie, Seth Jones and wife Riley; his nieces and nephews: Sophia, Ollie, Henry, and Clarke; and his paternal grandmother, Martha Jones.



Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation at www.glioblastomafoundation.org or to any Humane Society.
