Charles H.A. Lawyer Obituary

Charles H. A. Lawyer

Mar. 16, 1934 - Dec. 21, 2016

Our Dad has gone to be with our Mom. He passed unexpectedly after a short illness.

Charles was the son of James and Marjorie (Mitchel) Lawyer. He married Maebelle (Betty) Jones on April 8, 1955. He was one of the founders of the Huntington Fire Department; a jack of all trades but known mostly for his mechanical skills.

He worked for A.D. Pease Grain for 28 years until it closed. He then worked for S. T. Griswold for 15 years until his retirement. Charles continued to fix trucks for people in town until he was unable to do so.

Charles is survived by his children Donald and Deanna, Chuck and Joya, and Ellie; his grandchildren Todd and Darla, Tonya and Tim, Natasha and Keith, Kristopher and Maria, Tom and Ashley, Tiara and Travis, and Heather; his great-grandchildren Marleen, Isabell, Conner, Scott, Abigail, Ethan and Lillian. He also leaves a brother and sister Carlton and Janice and Ruth, as well as many nieces and nephews, his companion of 14 years Beverly White of Bristol and his beloved pug George.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016 between 2pm-4:30pm at Gifford Funeral Home, 22 Depot Street, Richmond with a prayer service at the funeral home beginning at 4:30pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers make a memorial donation to the Huntington Vol. Fire Dept. or Richmond Rescue Inc.
