Elinor Gruber Obituary

Elinor Louise (Webb) Gruber, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023.


She was born on June 9, 1935 in Iantha, Mo., to the late Oliver Burton Webb and Sarah Frances (Robinson) Webb. Elinor attended Liberal Schools and graduated in 1953.


She was the eldest of 3 children. She is survived by her husband, Larry, and her sister, Jo Krieckhaus, as well as a large, loving family.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Jana Gililland, and her younger sister, Beverly Jo, who died in infancy.


At times Elinor worked outside the home. One of her favorite positions was with the San Diego Community College bookstore. Some other positions held included bank teller, circulation department of the San Diego Tribune, and school teacher.


Elinor was an accomplished pianist and played for church services for many years. She enjoyed interior decorating, reading and spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


A Committal of Ashes will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri.


Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
