Jane O'brien St.Hilaire Obituary

Jane (O'Brien) St.Hilaire

Age: 81 • Williston

Jane O'Brien St.Hilaire passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side in U.V.M. Medical Center On May 24, 2017.

Jane was born on November 18, 1935 in Richmond, Vermont to Gordon and Alice (Berry) O'Brien. She grew up in Richmond. First, Jane attended Richmond Schools and later graduated from Mount Saint Mary's Academy in Burlington. Jane began her professional career as a secretary working at the Propagation of the Faith and later served as a records clerk at the Bishop Degoesbriand Medical Facility. She then found her life's calling working on the family farm after meeting and marrying Roger St.Hilaire. Tending the land and their four children was her passion and life's work.

Jane was happiest spending time outside on a beautiful Vermont day. She loved walking, gardening and working in the hayfield with the people she loved. Her favorite pastime was hosting family and friends around her kitchen table sharing stories, laughter, and many of her signature dishes and treats.

Jane was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all with whom she shared a special bond. She was also very proud of her Irish heritage and Catholic faith, taking great care to celebrate and practice both everyday.

Jane is survived by her husband Roger, four children Cynthia (Gregory) Carrano, Roger Jr. (Susan), Michelle and Gordon. Grandchildren, Kasey (Mindy) Kilburn, Trever Kilburn and fiancé Emily Faraone, Griffin and Allyson St.Hilaire. Great Grandchildren, Reese & Stihl Kilburn. Her sister and best friend Sheila Hartnett, brother Mark O'Brien, sister in-laws Pauline and Lois O'Brien. Her brother-in-law Fred St.Hilaire and wife Betty. Many loved nieces and nephews, with a special place in her heart for her niece, Mary Hartnett.

Jane was predeceased by her infant son, Renée, parents, Gordon and Alice O'Brien, brothers Gordon, Phillip (Helen), Peter, and brother-in-law John Hartnett. Roger's parents, Loretta and Alcide St. Hilaire, sisters-in-law Lillian Saunders, Pauline and husband Thomas Kenney, brother in-law Clement and wife Lorraine St.Hilaire, Leo St.Hilaire and wife Nicki.

In keeping with Jane's wishes there will be a mass of Christian Burial celebrated on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church, East Main Street, Richmond, VT. Immediately followed by a private family burial.

The family would like to thank Thomas Chittenden Health Center (Dr. Donnelly and Eileen), U.V.M. Medical Center's I.C.U., Palliative Care, Hematology and Oncology teams for the tremendous support, care, and compassion extended during some very difficult times. Our family would also like to express our gratitude to Dr. Mildred Reardon for her personal friendship and professional guidance throughout Jane's life.

The entire family wishes to offer a heartfelt thanks to Hawa and Shanti for their dedication and loyal friendship to Jane. In lieu of flowers the family asks that Memorial donations be made in Jane's name to the Carmelite Monastery at 89 Hiddenbrooke Drive, Beacon, NY 12508-2230.
