Geraldine Rita "Gerri" Nowak

Bay City, Michigan


Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Covenant HealthCare-Harrison, age 93. Gerri was born October 30, 1930, in Bay City to the late Isadore and Marie (Zaremba) Murawski. She married the love of her life Clarence F. "Clem" Nowak on May 5, 1951, and they were blessed with 62 years together until his passing on October 30, 2013.

Gerri is survived by their three children: Vicki (Brian) Reinhardt, Randy (Kellijo) Nowak, and Amy (Greg) Gillard, nine grandchildren: Jason Nowak, Randall Nowak, Jr., Beth (Jon) Gillard, Kerrijo McDaniel, Korrijo (Trevor) Loew, Renee Nowak, Peter Nowak, Sylvia Scheddel (Jim Powell), and Marissa Vermeesch, fourteen great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Macey Jo, Wyatt, Paitann, Cohan, Charlie, Violet, Calvin, Kylie, Skylar, Caleb, Ian, Josie, and Colton. Gerri was predeceased by her parents, Isadore and Marie, grandson Joshua Gillard, two brothers Virgil Murawski and Ronald (Theresa) Murawski, Cousin Robert (Irene) Garvin and many brothers and sisters-in-law.


In addition to her family and church Gerri loved traveling with Clem, gardening, spending time with her beloved nephew Mike (Kathy) Charbonneau and dinners and wine tastings with her niece and nephew Jane (Rich) Neitzel.

Gerri lived her entire life in Bay City and was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Charter member of the Ladies Chorale, Rosary/Altar Sodality, Past President of St. Stanislaus Ladies Athletic Club, Mother's Club (while her children were in school), Senior Citizens Club, League of Catholic Men & Women, Eucharistic Minister, former CCD instructor, and Past President of Bay County Church Women United. Gerri was a Girl Scout Leader in the Mitten Bay Girl Scout Council for over 30 years. Where she was awarded the "Thanks Badge," Scoutings highest honor.


The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 1503 Kosciuszko Ave., Bay City, MI 48708. Fr. Nicholas Coffaro will celebrate Mass and entombment will follow at St. Patrick Mausoleum. Family and friends will gather at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1200 Garfield Ave., Bay City, MI 48708 on Friday, May 17th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and at church on Saturday after 9:00 AM. Members of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish will pray the Rosary Friday at 3:00 PM, followed later the same day by a Parish Vigil Service at 6:00 PM, both at the funeral home.
