Dennis Allen Pastor Obituary

Dennis Allen Pastor, affectionately known as Denny, left this world on May 16, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on January 4, 1950, in Bad Axe, Michigan, he was the cherished son of the late Warren and Lucille (Putzic) Pastor. Denny's final days were spent surrounded by the love and care of the staff at Blue Water Hospice Home.

Denny's life was one of devotion and joy, marked by his marriage to his loving wife, Donna, on June 15, 1993, in Las Vegas. Their union was a testament to love and partnership. He was a proud father to Lee Pastor, Shawn Pastor, Dawn Schlimpf, and Heather Schutt. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Ashlee, Cheyenne, Rene, Kiarra, Brendan, Chloe, Gabriel, Lucille, and Kingston, as well as his three great-grandchildren, Skylar, Fiora, and Creed.

For over two decades, Denny was a dedicated truck driver at Winkworth Transit, known for his reliability and strong work ethic. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become a self-employed diesel mechanic, and he also lent his skills to maintenance roles at various manufacturing facilities. Denny's hands were rarely still, as he found joy and purpose in fixing, building, and improving everything he touched.

An outdoorsman at heart, Denny found peace and excitement in nature. He was an avid fisherman, kayaker, and canoeist, and he cherished the quiet moments waiting for a catch as much as the thrill of the hunt. His garage was a sanctuary where he could tinker to his heart's content.

Those who knew Denny will remember him as a loving and courageous man, always ready with a helping hand. His love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was unparalleled, and he took every opportunity to make them laugh and teach them valuable life skills.

In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Denny lived by these words, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched.

Denny's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the satisfaction of a job well done. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories told by his family and the countless lives he enriched. As we bid farewell to Dennis Allen Pastor, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a journey marked by love, hard work, and the simple pleasures that make life worth living. He will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his spirit will forever be a beacon for his family and friends.

Denny's family will hold a private gathering to honor his life and legacy. Graveside services and interment will take place on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. at Caswell Cemetery in Kimball Township. Reverend Dr. G. Patrick Thompson will officiate. Arrangements were entrusted to Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center.

Pallbearers will be Eric Johnson, Jim Oakley, Russell Steinhaus, Edward Gruszczynski, Gabriel Pastor, and Dennis Porrett. Kingston Pastor will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
