<p>Hendrix (nee Reynders), Maria “Mary”– Passed away peacefully at Woodingford Lodge, Tillsonburg, with her daughters at her side on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at the age of 96. </p><p><br></p><p>Reunited with her beloved husband Peter (2014), loving son Martin (2008), and infant daughter (1959). She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Liz Buchanan (Wayne), Nelly Visi (Les), Joanne Buchanan (Clare), and Wilma Hendrix and daughter-in-law Diane Lewis (Steve). Cherished Oma of 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Survived by one sister in Holland, and several in-laws in Holland, British Columbia, and Montana. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends, in both Canada and Holland. </p><p><br></p><p>Born in Holland, she emigrated to Canada with Peter in 1954 to face a brand new life. She embodied practicality, hard work, and love as a devoted mother, juggling responsibilities as a housekeeper, farm worker, and 4-H leader. Her deep faith in God was central to her life, as she dedicatedly served as a CWL member. Her family appreciated her unending care and the array of talents she possessed, excelling as a cook, seamstress, and skilled knitter/crocheter. Each great-grandchild was gifted a handmade crocheted "Oma blanket" as a token of her love. She inspired everyone to strive for excellence and set a remarkable example for all to emulate.</p><p><br></p><p>Guests will be received at the Smith-LeRoy Funeral Home, Woodstock, on Friday, May 17, 2024 between 2 – 4 pm &amp; 6 – 8 pm. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 1420 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock, at 11:00 a.m. Reception immediately following. Burial to take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. for family and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary can be done by planting a tree, donating to your local food bank or to the Parkinsons Society. Personal condolences may be shared at www.smithleroy.com.</p>
