Lyle K. Kirby Obituary

Lyle K. Kirby, age 79, passed away May 14, 2024 at home at his ranch in Sobieski, as were his wishes. His home and ranch were his heaven, so he chose to finish his journey in the only place that made him feel at peace. He was born March 1, 1945 in Suamico, WI. Lyle was the son of a WWII, 15th Battalion Paratrooper in the U.S. Army.  His father was killed at battle two months before Lyle was born.  He was named after his Father, who he will finally get to meet.

Lyle was raised by his “Ma”, Grandma Martha Malchow Beyer.  He fell in love with horses, fishing and hockey at a young age.  He was a 1963 graduate of Pulaski High School, Pulaski, WI., and a graduate of Golden Leaf Farrier College, Sturgis, SD.  Before becoming a farrier full time, Lyle was a dump truck driver and a commercial fisherman in the Bay Area, of Northeast, WI.  His favorite fish to catch were yellow perch and smelt.

After Farrier College he married his high school sweetheart, Diane Kruse of Kewaunee, WI.  They married October 7, 1967 and had three children, son Nick, and daughters, Wendy and Tammy.  They raised them on the Sundew Ranch along with all of their beloved animals.

His passions included anything outdoors and being surrounded by nature.  He was an avid boater, water skier, hockey player, fisherman, cowboy, mechanic, farrier, farmer and father.  Most of all, he cherished his family.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 57 years: Diane Kirby; Son: Nick Kirby (Susan Cruse); daughters: Wendy Kirby Peterson and Tammy (Ben) Kerscher; grandchildren: James (Brittany) Dobry, Laura (Jeff) Steichen, Wyatt Kirby, Cole McDonald, Brianna Kerscher and Brittany Kerscher; great grandchildren: Cassidy and Angelica Dobry, Blair and Brooks “River” Steichen; sister: Martha Rae (Dan) Richardson; brother: Rodney Olsen; along with his very close special friends: Vern, Joe, Mike, and Dan.

He is preceded in death by his Grandma: “Ma” Martha Beyer; Mother: Audrey Blatter; Father: Lyle Kirby; Grandson: Dalton “Bookie” Brokiewicz; Cousin and soul brother: Rex; Cousin and soul sister: Eileen Malchow Olson.

Cremation has occurred and Lyle’s life will be celebrated privately by his family.

Condolences may be left for the family by visiting www.lyndahl.com. Any memorial donations may be sent to the family.

The family would like to thank Unity Hospice for their special care of Lyle.
