James H. Schleg Obituary

James H. Schleg passed away at his residence in Port Washington early Wednesday morning, May 15, 2024. The son of Theodore “TW” and Elnore (nee Louzinsky) Schleg, James was born in Green Bay on December 4, 1938. Jim graduated from Sheboygan Central High School and then served his country in the US Navy as a Beachmaster with the 2nd and 6th Fleets.

He married Beverly Dommer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington in August of 1963. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from UW-Oshkosh and a master’s from Concordia University of Wisconsin. He taught History and Sociology at Cedarburg High School from 1965 through 2001.

James is survived by his children Yvonne (Russell) Klotz of Port Washington, Stephanie Schleg of Sheboygan, Thomas (Amy) Schleg of Saukville, and Rachel (Paul) Kleczka of Chandler, Arizona. He is further survived by nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, other family, and friends.


James is preceded in death by his wife Beverly, parents, brother Tom (Fran) Schleg, and sister Penny (Gene) Wawrzyniak.

Funeral services will take place at 7PM on Monday, May 20th, at River of Life Lutheran Church, 598 Hillcrest Rd.in Saukville. The family will receive visitors at the church on Monday from 5:30PM until services begin at 7PM.

He will be laid to rest beside his wife the next day at Union Cemetery in Port Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to CALMS (Central American Lutheran Mission Society) in Jim’s name are suggested.
