Cecelia M. Tapley Obituary

Cecelia M. Tapley, 81, of Modena passed away on May 14, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.


Cecelia was born April 14, 1943 in Albany, NY. She is the daughter of the late Anthony and the late Dominica (Lucchi) Oropallo. Cecelia was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother and very devoted to her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It gives the family comfort that she is now with him.


Ceil graduated from Brewster High School in 1961 and the Berkeley School in 1962. She had a long career in Law Enforcement as a stenographer and secretary with the New York State Department of Corrections and retired in 2014 From the SUNY New Paltz Police Department. After Retirement, Ceil enjoyed volunteering at Faith Assembly of God and was an avid traveler. She was blessed to have traveled to many destinations but her favorite, with multiple visits, was Israel. Summers for Ceil were filled with weekly stays at Sea Isle City New Jersey and her favorite Ocean Grove New Jersey, a place that she introduced to many of her friends. She touched many people in her life and will be sadly missed by them all.


Cecelia is survived by two daughters Cheri (Robert) A. Krusen of Highland, NY and Nadell (Michael) Swanson of Wappingers Falls, NY. She is also survived by her sister Catherine Outhouse of Croton Falls, and brother Anthony Oropallo of Redding, CT. She is further survived by her loving grandchildren, Anthony (Megan) M. Krusen, Alexandria Krusen, Matthew Krusen, Cecelia A. Tapley, Gabriel Swanson, and Nedra Swanson, and her great grandchildren, Anthony J. Krusen, Ryan Krusen.


The family would like to thank the staff at Vassar Brothers Medical Center for the services they performed and for their professionalism they displayed during this trying time. A celebration of Cecelias’ life will take place at The Gathering at Faith Assembly, 25 Golf Club Ln, Poughkeepsie NY on Saturday June 1st from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
