It is with great sadness that the family of Francis Manley Pargeter announce his peaceful passing on May 2nd, 2024 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail, BC with his family by his side.

Francis was born April 19, 1934, on the family farm in Basswood, Manitoba. Francis' father was stationed in the West Kootenay's during the 2nd world war and Francis, his mother and sister Anna moved west to Beaver Falls. It was here that Fran met and pursued Barbara Bond, they married in July 1955. They built their home in Beaver Falls in 1964 and raised their son Stephen and daughter Melanie.

He was predeceased by his wife Barb, sister Anna and grandson Jeremy. Fran is survived by his son Stephen (Sharlon) Pargeter, (Ross Spur, BC) daughter Melanie (Geoff) Legge (Crowsnest Pass, AB) and granddaughter Carla (Kevin) Hannah (Ross Spur, BC) and his 2 great grandchildren Lucas and Sadie.

Francis wore many hats, he was a farmer, logger and for 30 plus years he worked for Palm Dairies and was known around the area as Fran the Milkman. Fran and Barb shared a passion for fishing and many adventures were focused around fishing.

~ Love of family

~ Loyalty and commitment to his friends

~ The valley lost one of its best story tellers and great historians.

~ Loved to talk to people no matter stranger or not and if you were a stranger, you didn't feel like it when you walked away.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 13th, 2024. Time and location with be announced at a later date. Sarah Stevens of Clark’s Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, we request donations be made to the West Kootenay SPCA, or www.spca.bc.ca.
