Harry Nelson Howell Obituary

Harry N. Howell (Joe) was born November 17, 1952 to Otis and Constance Howell. Due to an unfortunate accident, after a seven month journey he departed his life at home surrounded by family on May 13, 2024.

Joe dedicated his life at an early age at Second Antioch Baptist Church of Powhatan, VA under the leadership of Reverend George W. Manning. He served on many ministries, such as the Men’s Choir, Groundsman, Treasurer, Trustee and he also assisted with the Helping Hand Ministry.

Following his retirement from Dominion VA Power, he drove school bus for Powhatan County School where he enjoyed and loved the kids. He owned E&H Lawn Service and also worked with Colony Construction. Joe was a member of the Masons Shining Light Lodge #272. He enjoyed spending time in his garage, yard, and cleaning his bus. He was definitely the Patriarch of the family. Joe was a very detailed person that took pride in whatever job he did.

Joe is preceded in death by his father (Otis), Mother (Constance), sister (Pam), and grandson (Ryan).

He leaves to cherish: his loving and devoted wife, Yvonne Howell; his children, Reytina Banks and Christopher Howell (Stephanie); bonus children, Lorraine Eanes, Anthony Walker (Rochelle) and Quincy Walker; grandchildren, Phillip, Diamond, Nadia and Amaya; sisters, Irene Ross and Yvette Welch (Tyrone); three great grandchildren; two nephews, Miquel Mathews and Tommie Williams; brother-in-law, Michael Mathews; one aunt, Barbara Ann Howell; devoted friend, Alzita Howell; and a host of relatives and friends. A special thanks to Corey Robinson, Cliff Howell and Louis Bailey for the support during this journey.
