Matthew Leroy Whynot Obituary

Passed away tragically in an accident, doing what he loved, in Massey, Ontario on May 12, 2024 at the age of 64.


Loving father of Sarah and Melanie (Tyler). Much loved brother of Merrill, William “Bill” and Susan (David) Dafoe and cherished uncle of Gord (Rachel), Pam (Stephen), Heather (Jason), Brad (Alicia) and Krista. Also survived and loved by his great nieces, great nephews, cousins and his many friends.


Predeceased by his parents Harold and Sylvia.


Matthew was a diehard Maple Leaf and Bills fan and an avid outdoors man, especially enjoying golfing, fishing and hunting. He was proud to be an Electrician, retiring after over 30 years at Dofasco.


In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.


Matthew’s family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Armstrong Chapel. There will be a private graveside service. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Niagara SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society.
