Jesse D. Gibbs, age 89 of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at his home.


A son of the late Jesse Earl and Winifred Hester Bowser Gibbs, Jesse was born December 6, 1934, in Tuscarawas, Ohio.


Jesse graduated from Warwick TWP High School in 1952. He took night courses at Fenn College in Cleveland, Ohio. In October 1959, Jesse married Miriam Wentz and together shared 64 ½ years of marriage before passing away on May 13.


He served in the United States Army 1959-1961. Jesse worked at Warner and Swasey from 1958-1970, Speedex Lawn Tractor Company in Ravenna, OH 1970-1972 then at Kidron Body in Kidron, OH. He moved to Pigeon Forge in 1999 and worked at Dollywood, Ripley’s Amusements and retired from the Island in Pigeon Forge in 2020.


In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his siblings Harold Gibbs, Lloyd Gibbs and Edith (Gibbs) Myers, all of Tuscarawas, OH.


Jesse is survived by his wife, Miriam Wentz Gibbs; his children, Linda Gibbs and David Gibbs of the home, Tim (Pam) Gibbs of Sevierville, TN, Brian (JoAnn) Gibbs of Ridgeville, SC; granddaughters, Kimie Gibbs of SC, Elizabeth (Gibbs) Jewell of Sevierville; great-grandchildren, Aubriana Gibbs, Leni Runyon Santiago and Kaymon Gibbs of SC.


The family will receive friends 1-3 PM Saturday, May 25, 2024, with a memorial service to follow at 3 PM in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Pastor Keith Thornton will officiate.
