George Huseman Obituary

George Henry Huseman, age 80, of Green Valley, Arizona and formerly of Versailles, Illinois passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, May 15, 2024 at his residence in Green Valley, Arizona. 

He was born November 1, 1943 in Princeton, Illinois the son of Melvin and Mary Stout Huseman.  He married Louise Hofsess on March 12, 1966 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and she preceded him in death on October 3, 2017.  He later married Vera Wheeler on May 9, 2024 in Green Valley, Arizona and she survives. 

Mr. Huseman served as a history teacher at Brown County High School for 34 years, retiring in 1998.  He then owned and operated Huseman Building for several years and taught classes for John Wood Community College, Spoon River College and Lincoln Land Community College.  

Mr. Huseman graduated from Walnut, Illinois High School with the class of 1961 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois in 1966.  He later received his Master’s Degree in geography in 1986, his Educational Specialist Degree in 1991 and a Master's Degree in History in 2003 all from Western Illinois University in Macomb. 

Mr. Huseman was a member of the Mt. Sterling First Christian Church.  He was also a member of the Hardin Lodge #44 A.F. & A.M. in Mt. Sterling, the Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers in Green Valley, Arizona and a life member of the Illinois Geographical Society. 

Survivors include his wife Vera Huseman of Green Valley, Arizona.  3 brothers Glenn Huseman, Harold Huseman and John Huseman all of Walnut, Illinois.  

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.  

Memorials are suggested to Hope Through Faith Ministries and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
