Peter "Pete" James Carr

<p>Peter James Carr, 72, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024. He was born November 9, 1951, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, to the late Albert and Nora Fyn Carr.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Spence and brother, Mike Carr.</p><p><br></p><p>Peter proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was dedicated and loved driving a truck; he did this line of work for more than fifty years. While on the road he enjoyed Twitter, Blog Talk Radio, listening to radio shows and some of his favorite songs included: Drive That Rig to Glory and East Bound and Down. Peter ran for Governor of Colorado; politics were very important to him. In his down time, he enjoyed watching westerns, Star Trek, watching airplanes, fishing, golfing, astronomy, reading, cutting jokes and making people laugh.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by ex-wife, Monica Carr; daughter, Elizabeth Spence (Avery Brooks); sons, Jon Carr, Sean Carr (Christy Kowalski), Brian Carr; and Rashawn Harper; sister, Cathy Swager; brother, Daniel Carr; and grandchildren, Louis Carr, Madisyn Carr, Olivya Carr, Miette Wilson, Ellia Harper, and Nathaniel Carr.</p><p><br></p><p>The funeral will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 2:30 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastors David &amp; Cindy Bryant officiating. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to the service.</p><p><br></p><p>The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Elizabeth Spence, Monica Carr, and Amedisys Home Health for the care given over the last few years.</p><p><br></p><p>Wright Funeral Service &amp; Crematory is serving the family.
