Dorothy Nell Pruitt Obituary

Dorothy Nell Pruitt, lovingly known as Dorothy to all who knew her, left this world on May 14, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on January 17, 1940, in Brenham, Texas, to the late Alvis Alvin Woodall and Thelma Wisdom, Dorothy's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and unwavering kindness. She passed away peacefully in Burnet, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family.

Dorothy's journey through life was marked by her deep commitment to her family and the joy she found in simple pleasures. On March 12, 1967, she married her beloved husband, Rufus Pruitt, and together they built a life filled with laughter, support, and enduring love. Dorothy's role as a mother was her greatest pride, and she is survived by her children: Sharon Selby (Bill), Dorothy Perkins (Tommy), Cindy Lopez (Jose), Travis Pruitt (Carolyn), and Shane Pruitt. She was a guiding light to her 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, her brother Louis Woodall, her sister Doris Carnes, and her children Aubrey Merkel and Karen Merkel Rice. She leaves behind her siblings Alvis Woodall Jr., and Hattie Black, who will remember her for her unwavering strength and the love she shared so freely.

Dorothy spent most of her life in Llano County where she raised her seven children. She enjoyed fishing and camping at the local watering hole. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Dorothy had numerous friends in both Llano and Burnet counties. She was a very hard worker, and a down-to-earth person. She enjoyed driving trucks, and she had a great work ethic.

Dorothy was the kind of person that you wanted on your side. She always stood up for what she thought was right. She was a very special person and will be remembered for her unique personality.
