Matt Obituary

Matthew (Matt) Edward Ferrell, a loving husband, father, son and brother passed away Sunday May 12, 2024, at the age of 44, at Baptist Health Corbin. Matt, affectionately known as “Hunky Poo”, was known for his love of Jesus, family and friends. His nephews called him Matty Hatty and he was the greatest uncle anyone could have ever had.

Matt is survived by his wife Kim; children Brookie, Alex and Kenna; mother Judy Ferrell; sister Amie Rosenberger; Mother and Father in law Mike and Geneva Monhollen and his sister in laws Katie Meer and Kasey (Rick) Faulkner. Matt was also survived by many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends to mourn his passing.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold and Pauline Ferrell and Jasper and Lola Joseph; his father Kevin Ferrell; brother Jeremy Ferrell and his brother in law Jon Rosenberger.

Matt was an evangelist, ordained by the Kentucky Church of God. He had a passion for Jesus then his wife and children. He loved his family and friends and had a heart for everyone he had the opportunity to meet. He attended Grace Fellowship in London KY and served in several different areas while there. He was an avid sports fan, most would even call him a sports fanatic, who loved playing and participating in many sport leagues. While Matt came across as quiet and reserved, his family and friends knew a different person. They knew him as funny, goofy and as someone known for his dance moves and especially his appetite.

Everyone who knew Matt knew he had a love for the Lord, but most didn’t know that his love for his sweet, kind, never nagging mother in law, was almost as strong. Matt loved his mother in law and they loved picking at each other so, somewhere he is laughing about this statement.

A memorial service celebrating Matt’s life will take place May 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Grace Fellowship in London, Kentucky with pastor Dale Campbell officiating.
