Mary "Christine" Lund Obituary

Christine Lund, our beloved mother, granny, and great granny, passed away on May 13th, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on July 30, 1938, in Wayne, Alberta, she spent her childhood in Mill City at the Mercury Camp near Royalties. There, she attended Mercury Camp Elementary before moving on to South Turner Valley High School, making lifelong friends while causing lots of trouble. In 1957, she married Donald Goss and together they had three children Connie, Chris, and Carol. Christine’s children brought her much joy (as well as a few headaches) throughout her life.

When the children were almost grown Christine returned to college and went to work in the big city. She travelled by bus from the farm to downtown Calgary, and to no one’s surprise found more dear friends along the way.

Once the grandchildren started arriving, Christine found a new source of devotion and joy as Granny. Throughout her life Christine hugged, laughed, danced on tables, and embraced life in all it’s stages. Friendship was the foundation of Christine’s being. One good friend described Christine as “blowing into her life with all the warmth and velocity of a chinook wind”. Christine’s infectious laugh and heartfelt hugs will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter Connie Jones (Brad) and their children Kyra and Logan; her son Chris Goss (Lorry Rossol) and his children Teresa Roach (James), Krista Miller (Robert), and Kelsey Miller (David), Frank Daniels (Carol Goss); and Carol’s children Megan Duthie (Tyler Koontz) and Samantha (Nick) Miravalle; she also leaves behind great grandchildren Jenna and Luke Roach, Hayley and Ryan Miller, Katelyn, Laila and Jack Miller, Aiden and James Koontz, and Finn and Emme Miravalle; as well as countless beloved friends.

Christine was predeceased by her husband Donald; her good friend Kenny; and her daughter Carol.

There is nothing Christine loved more than a party, especially if it was in her honor.

We will celebrate her life and legacy at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel in High River on Sunday May 19th, 2024, at 1pm. A reception and light refreshments to follow in High River, and then we will meet at the Twin Cities Hotel in Longview at 4:30pm to hear a few songs by Fellowship of Christian Cowboys and raise a farewell toast to Christine.

“I've lived a life that's full

I traveled each and every highway

And more, much more than this

I did it my way” ~ Frank Sinatra

A graveside service will be held at Highwood Cemetery on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 1:00 P.M.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Veterans Food Bank in honour of Christine.
