Shirley Kenney Johnson, 89, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, May 14th in the Macky & Pam Stansell House Coastal Hospice in Ocean Pines.


Born March 22, 1935, in Whitehaven, MD, she was the daughter of the late Brannus Palmer and Lillian Mae (Jones) Kenney. Her husband of 68 years, Richard “Dick” Johnson, passed away in 2021.


Shirley graduated from Wicomico High School, Class of 1953. After raising her children she began working at the First National Bank of Harrington, later JCPenney Bank. After relocating, Shirley worked at AAA of Salisbury.


She was always active in her local churches and supported Dick throughout his various career moves. Shirley enjoyed volunteering at the hospital and was a member of the Wicomico County Republican Women’s Club.


Shirley and Dick enjoyed traveling after retirement and were fixtures at their children and grandchildren’s sporting events.


Survivors include three children, David Johnson and his wife, Heather, of Harrington, DE, Kenney P. Johnson of Tucson, AZ and Catherine “Cathy” Parsons and her husband, Wayne, of Fruitland; four grandchildren, Ashley Sinclair and her husband, Jason, Scott Wolf and his wife, Cara, Sierra Grahovac and her husband, Sam and Hunter Parsons and his wife, Emily; seven great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, best friend, confidant and “daughter”, Robin Citroni of Salisbury. She was predeceased by a great-grandson, Luka Thomas Grahovac; sister, Virginia Webster; brother-in-law, Dick Webster; brother-in-law, Leonard Johnson; and an infant brother.


A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 18th in Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Parson’s Cemetery, Salisbury

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Macky & Pam Stansell House Coastal Hospice, 1500 Ocean Parkway, Ocean Pines, MD 21811.
