Joyce Marie Jackson was born on March 22, 1951 in Crockett, Texas to the parentage of Willie Elliott Williams and Lola Mae Jackson. She attended Ralph Bunche High School.
At an early age, Joyce accepted Christ and was baptized. She maintained her faith throughout her life and would worship at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church and Clegg’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
For many years, Joyce was employed by Earl’s Sewing Factory. She had a love for sewing but would discover a true passion for childcare. She was widely known for the care she provided for numerous children.
On May 14, 2024, Joyce Marie Griffin departed this life. She was preceded in transition by her parents (Willie Wiliams and Lola Head), two daughters (Joyce Owens and Shelland Owens), two sons (Donald Owens and Micheal Owens), one grandson (Akanni Owens), and one sister (Judy Moore).
Left to honor her life and cherish her memory are her children, James “Chris” Owens of Crockett, Lavada “Pinky” Owens of Huntsville, Marketta “Honey” Griffin of Austin and Lequevia “Kevia” McCullough of Crockett; bonus daughters, Nancy Morales and Decoshia Cooper; bonus son, Ricksun Cooper; grandchildren, Jaycaria Owens, Keyston Rivera, Anthony Washington, Sha’Kyra Owens, Tiarra Granville, Christopher Owens, Zamyriah Owens and Kayden Owens; great-grandchildren, Khole, Ke’shun, Javoria, Cherish, Kiarra, Ja’Sharia, Ja’Kevia and Ry’Lei; sisters, Lois Boyd of Trinity and Mary Jacqueline Jetter; brothers, Lester Jackson (Barbara) of Lockhart, Willie Jackson of Lockhart, Patrick White of Crockett, Willie Williams, Jr. and Willie Jetter; aunt, Teresa Colter (Port Arthur) of Crockett; uncle, Albert Reece, Jr. of Crockett, a host of nieces and nephews that loved her and called her “Ji”, and a host of babies who loved her and called her “Granny”.
