Barbara Rudnicky Obituary

RUDNICKY, Barbara

January 16, 1938 – May 7, 2024

It is with heavy hearts and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved Barbara Elizabeth Rudnicky on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the age of 86 years.

She will be remembered by her daughters; Karen Lemon, Donna (Erik Smit) Bonsteel and son Steven (Lorraine) Rudnicky, grandmother of Charis, Jalea, Devery & Jordan, aunt to 26 nieces & nephews and friends to, so very many in the communities of Genesee, Barrhead and Morinville.

She was predeceased by her loving spouse Nick of 59 years in December, all her brothers; Steve (Joan) Lorincz, Joe (Rita) Lorincz, George (Yvonne) Lorincz, Andy (Shirley) Lorincz, Mike Lorincz and her parents George & Barbara Lorincz.

Barb was born in Genesee, raised on the farm within the Genesee community with her mother (and stepmother), father and 5 brothers until she went away to work in Vancouver, BC. She returned to Genesee to care for her ailing mother who eventually passed but remained on the farm to help. It was during this time home that she met her husband Nick Rudnicky who was friends with her brothers. They married on August 21, 1964, and proceeded to build a life on their own farm in Genesee, raising their 3 children, grain farmed and raised cows, pigs and chickens. In 1981, they sold the farm in Genesee and moved the family to Barrhead where they bought a large grain farm in the Vega community. Barb was well known for her cooking/baking, gardening, and friendly demeanor throughout every community they lived. Barb was a warm, kind, and loving soul who always had a smile for everyone, would ask questions and listen to everything you wanted to talk about. It was her sense of adventure and excitement that lead them through many areas of travel, enjoyment of musical events and visiting people they knew along the way. Barb often enjoyed her quiet time as well with a good book, a crossword or a jigsaw puzzle but always welcomed a helping hand or company when someone came along.

A memorial / celebration of life will be held in Morinville at the Rendez-Vous Centre on August 17, 2024, from 1-5pm. Address is 9913 – 104 Street, Morinville.

Please contact family for further details if you are interested.
