Richard "Rick" Marcel Hachey Obituary

It is with heart break and sadness the family announces the passing of Richard Marcel Hachey who passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, May 13th, 2024.

Born in Saint John on June 17th, 1952, he was the son of the late Anthony and Florence (Durning) Hachey.  Rick was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend; he was a lifelong sportsman playing in hockey and baseball leagues for years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially watching wrestling. Rick worked for the City of Saint John Water Department for many years retiring in 2012 and was a member of Local 18 Outside Workers.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of almost 49 years Patti (Murphy) Hachey; daughter Jaye Hachey (Kelly); brothers and sisters Annette Johnston, Tom Hachey (Linda), Larry Hachey (Sharon), Tony Hachey (Kathy), Keith Hachey (Doris), Noreen Robichaud (Larry) and Wendy Duffley (Noel); sister-in-law Terrie Murphy; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, friends and as well as canine companion Eliot and feline grand cat Toley. Along with his parents, Rick was predeceased by his sister-in-law Lorrie Hachey, brothers-in-law Wayne Johnston and Paul Murphy and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Dola & Eugene Murphy.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 18th at 2:00 p.m.

Donations in Rick’s memory can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Saint John Animal Rescue League or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
