Irving Arthur Woolf Obituary

Dr. Irving Arthur Woolf “Irv,” age 78, of Maple Grove, MN, was diagnosed with leukemia in March of 2024 and

passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Irving was born in Warrington, Lancashire, England on Nov. 20th , 1945 to Ethel Churm Woolf from Warrington, England and Irving Walter Woolf in the US Army stationed in England. Irv graduated from Wheaton Community High School in 1963. Irv married the love of his life, Elsie Moore, and finished his undergraduate degree from Bradley University in 1968. Irving was a Staff Sgt in the US Air Force from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War. He went on to receive a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He was ordained in both the Baptist General Conference and the Evangelical Free Church of America. He completed his formal education with a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Denver Theological Seminary in 2006.

Irv loved the Lord with all of his heart, soul and mind. He became a pastor at the age of 28 and continued as a pastor for 35 years before leaving the pastorate to start the National Coalition for Purity in 2008. Irv loved to research and write, and he wrote two books on purity. He also loved to golf, spend time with his children and grandchildren and sip coffee with his sweetheart at the Daily Dose. He also enjoyed fishing and his favorite “honey hole” was on Cedar Lake at Camp Lebanon, where he and his entire family attended Labor Day Family Camp for over a decade.

In 2015, Irv and his beloved wife, Elsie, started Hopewell Counseling, and Irv faithfully ministered to others up until his final days. Irv will be dearly missed by his family who loved him so deeply. Irving is preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Ethel Woolf, and sister, Janice Woolf Hazen. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Elizabeth Woolf, and his children Doug (Rebecca), Laura (Jon), and David (Melissa); grandchildren Jordan (Claire), Ellicia, Austin, Josiah, Anna, Micah and Adalyn and one great grandson (due Sept. 2024).

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at 11AM with visitation one hour prior at Revive Church in Brooklyn Park. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
