Hilario Sanchez Solis, Sr.

Hilario Sanchez Solis Sr. passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on November 10, 2023. He was born to Santos and Guadalupe Solis in Matamoros, Mexico on October 21, 1945. He had 2 sisters and 3 brothers. He moved to Texas in 1964 and proudly became a United States Citizen on April 27, 1989. At the age of 19, he met the love of his life Tomasa Garcia Solis, she was 18. They met at their first job, The Buttercrust Bakery in Austin, Texas. He would always sneak in to steal kisses from her and their love blossomed beautifully from there. They joined their lives in matrimony on April 6, 1966. Together, they had three children. He was always so proud to provide for his family. He worked at the Buttercrust Bakery for over 20 years. He took a very short shot at plumbing and left that behind for an outstanding 20 plus years as a driver for Capital Metro Transit Company. During his life, he endured many struggles. None of which he let get the best of him. He fought strongly and overcame and beat four cancers throughout 1978 to 2022. Lukemia, prostate cancer, colon cancer, and skin cancer couldnt stop him. He always had a smile on his face and loved everyone just as they were. He loved music, dancing, and his sports. He was very skilled in all areas of his life and built and crafted many things for his family throughout his lifetime teaching them all along the way. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Tomasa Garcia Solis. His three children; daughter Apolonia Solis Rebolloso (Pumpkin) and husband Elio Rebolloso, son Hilario Solis Jr. (Lalito) and wife Christina Solis, and son Jacob G. Solis and wife Veronica Ortiz Solis. His grandchildren; Maximiliano, Samantha, Andrea, Jacob Jr., Hilario Solis III, Domonic and wife Elena, Brandie, Miranda, Angel, Gaby, and Gisele. Six great granchildren; Nene, Milo, Chonchis, Devin Jax, Roque Richard, Melanie, and twins on the way. All of his brothers and sisters; Augustin, Matias, Nate, Tanis, and Goyis. Services will be held at DeLeon Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas on Monday November 20, 2023, with visitation to begin at 6:00 p.m. and recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. An additional celebration of life will be held on November 25, 2023 at Casa Garcias; exact location and time will be announced at the rosary.
