John Robert Brock Obituary

John Robert Brock Jr, 76, of Anderson, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Born on April 8, 1948 in Seneca, SC to the late John Robert Brock, Sr. and the late Doris Lanford Brock.

John (Johnny to family members) earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in History from Clemson University and was retired from a long teaching career at Tamassee-Salem High School in Salem, SC. At the time of his death he was employed as the HR Director at Wal-Mart in Anderson.

He is survived by siblings Kathy Brock Weddle (Joe) of Pulaski, VA, Susan Brock Booker of Walhalla, SC, and David Boyd Brock (Susan) of Winder, GA. John was a doting uncle and is also survived by 7 nieces and nephews and 12 great-nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Robert Brock, Sr, and Doris Lanford Brock.

John was a unique character in every way whose story-telling ability was on par with the great literary masters. He enjoyed traveling, reading, antiques, and restoring old houses. He was truly a “people person” and especially loved all of his work peers.

Per his request there will be no public service. The family will gather for a private celebration of life at a later date.
