Official Obituary of

Christine A. McMinn

December 18, 1932 – May 7, 2024

Christine “Chris” McMinn, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. She leaves behind a loving family filled with many cherished memories.

Beloved daughter of the late Earl and Esther Woodworth, Chris was born December 18, 1932 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, where she grew up and married Robert Silva. The two of them raised their three children until Bob’s passing in 1974. Chris was a loving wife and mother, as well as an Avon representative for many years.

In 1976, Chris married the love of her life, Charles (Chuck) Jerome McMinn. After Chuck retired in 1990, they moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to pursue Chuck’s dream of living on a golf course. There they made dozens of friends and lived a very happy life together for more than forty years.

Chris was a devoted Catholic, and served her church in many ways, including acting as a Eucharistic minister, providing communion to the homebound every week after mass.

Chris was predeceased by her husband, Chuck and her son Robert W. Silva. She leaves behind her son, Terry Silva (Sally) of St. Petersburg, FL; her daughter Denise Lutz (Tim) of Lakeville,MN; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Chris was best known as a vivacious and generous neighbor, an organizer and gracious host. She and Chuck loved to entertain and feed guests, hosting a daily happy hour in their home for relatives and friends. She also loved music, and was happiest when she could have the chance to dance and sing! Her last 18 months on this earth were spent at an assisted living facility in St. Petersburg, FL where she is remembered as the life of the party!

A celebration of Life will be held at the American House Assisted Living Facility in St. Petersburg, FL at 3:00 PM on May 31st. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM, June 19th, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Avenue, Murrells Inlet, SC.
