Kenneth Gable Sr. was born to Willie Gable Sr. and Cecile Knox Gable in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 3, 1942. He entered eternal rest on Tuesday May 7, 2024, in New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of eighty-one. He was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and was baptized at an early age by Reverend A. Prince Fortner. Kenneth enjoyed playing sports. He played basketball, baseball and ran track. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1961. He went on to join the U. S. Army and served for 6 years and was honorably discharged in 1963. In 1964 he met his loving wife, Marlene Miles and they were married on June 26, 1965. They were blessed with four loving children: Kenneth Gable Jr., Kisha Nichelle Starks, Karen Nicole Mathews and Raquel Ulmer-Bell. Kenneth worked for CSX Railroad as a switch operator. He served CSX faithfully for 26 years. He enjoyed reading, dancing, listening to music and watching westerns and sports. He was the New Orleans Saints number one fan. Kenneth leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Marlene Gable, New Orleans, LA; his mother, Cecile Knox Gable, New Orleans, LA; his children, Kenneth Gable Jr. New Orleans, LA; Kisha Nichelle Starks (Shawn) Covington, GA; Karen Mathews (Cameron) Richmond, TX; and Raquel Bell (Jason) Richmond, TX. He leaves two brothers, Rev. Dr. Willie Gable, Jr. (Julie) and Aaron Gable (June) of New Orleans, LA; Eight loving grandchildren Irian Dorsey, Kaitlyn Gable, Yahsell Gable, Tai Gable, Jarius Starks, Cameron Reed, Jace Bell, Jaxon Bell, one great grandchild Rashaad Morgan, one aunt, Jane Thomas and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Gable Sr., and sister Anita Broussard. He will be dearly missed. Funeral Services for Mr. Kenneth Gable Sr. on Saturday May 18, 2024, for 10:00 a.m. at Progressive Baptist Church 1214 S. Robertson Street, New Orleans, LA 70113. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Johmyrin Johnson officiating. Interment: Monday May 20, 2024, for 11:00 a.m. at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery 34888 Grantham College Dr. Slidell, La. 70460.
