George Murray Obituary

On April 19, 2024, the Lord called George Murray home, he was 89 years old. He was born in Yuba City, CA, on February 11, 1935.


He attended local schools and graduated from Yuba City High School in 1952, he then joined the Air Force, then in September he married his high school sweetheart Shirley Oliver.


While in the Air Force he was stationed in Japan keeping bombers flying to Korea. He was proudly serving when the truce was signed in 1954.


During their 71 years of marriage George and Shirley had 2 children, Rebecca Murray-Herbst, Esq. (Mark) and Jason Murray, both of Yuba City, CA.


After serving his country they returned to Yuba City, where he became a Police Officer. Later he had an opportunity to purchase a local title company.


In 1964, he obtained his Real Estate license soon after earned his Broker's license. He formed Valley Fair Realty, which he ran for many years before retirement.


He was a member of the Yuba Sutter Fair board for over 12 years, was a member of the Sutter County Airport committee, a previous owner of North State Title, was on the board at Sutter Butter Savings Bank, West Side Machinery Inc, and C.N. Power Inc.


He will be missed by many.


His service will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in Sutter Cemetery at 10am, with his Celebration of Life to follow at J. Heier Farms 4880 East Butte Rd 95953.
