Booneville, KY- William (Bill) Albert Gabbard, age 86 years departed this world on January 28, 2019 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY after battling a long illness. Bill was born on April 3, 1932 in Owsley County, to Archo and Mae Gabbard. Bill married Mary Em (Moore) Gabbard on February 26, 1955. They resided in Owsley County, and raised a family. Bill logged and farmed to provide for his family, he was also a Deputy Sheriff/Jailer for two terms. In his younger years he enjoyed wagoning, mules, fox hunting, and was an original founder of the Owsley County Saddle Club. He enjoyed cattle, gun/knife trading, being outside, and any occasion for a cookout or fish fry with his family and friends. Bill is survived by his devoted wife; Mary Em Gabbard, 3 sons; Keith (Betty) Gabbard, Timothy (Peggy) Gabbard, Henry (Naomi) Gabbard, 1 daughter; Darlene Gabbard, all of Booneville, KY. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; Michael (Christy) Gabbard, Karen Gabbard, Amy Bledsoe, Natasha Rodriguez, William (Jamie) Gabbard, Ashlee Gabbard, Brittany (Dylan) Barrett, and Kayla Johnson, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. Bill is also survived by 6 sisters; Judy (Elwood) Sizemore, Gladys Peters, Nadine Smith, Ailene Wilder, Virginia McDaniel, all of Booneville, KY, and Brenda (Clyde) Silcox of Beattyville, KY, several nieces, nephews, and many other family members, and a host of friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Archo and Mae Gabbard, a son; Edgar Gabbard, 3 brothers; Mitchel, Curtis, and Carlos Gabbard, 1 sister; Geraldine Bowling, and several other family members and dear friends.Visitation will be held Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Booneville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Booneville Funeral Home with Pastor Mitchell Baker officiating.
