Cheyenne Wyoming - E. Wayne Botner, age 81, and formerly of Booneville, KY died April 20, 2013 at his residence in Cheyenne, Wyoming.He was born June 3, 1931 in Endee, Owsley County, KY to the late Dewey and Grace (Price) Botner. He grew up in Travellers Rest, KY attending a one room elementary school and graduating from Booneville High School. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Kentucky, and while attending was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He retired from AT&T as an Engineering Manager for 30 years. He married Claudia Botner on March 28, 1991 in Broomfield, CO.He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, being stationed at Bad Hersfeld in Germany. He was a member of the Cowboy Joe Club, University of Kentucky Alumni Club, New Hope Masonic Lodge #564 A.F. & A. M. in Travellers Rest, KY, Veterans of War, American Legion, Telephone Pioneers of America (past President). He was an avid bowler and golfer and played in the World Amateur Handicapped Golf Championship for 10 years, finishing 6th in his flight in 1989.Wayne enjoyed bowling and playing golf. He also loved to travel and spending time with his grandchildren. Some of his favorite trips include going to England and Germany and on a cruise to Alaska. Wayne's favorite professional sports teams were the Cincinnati Reds, Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. Wayne enjoyed the Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball as well as the Wyoming Cowboys football, and men's and women's basketball.He is survived by his wife, Claudia Botner of Cheyenne, WY, daughters, Tiffany (Mike) Stockard of Westminster, CO and Jamie Vincent (David Mathis) of Cheyenne, WY, grandchildren, Joshua, Desirae, Madison and Nicole Stockard and Rachel and Cody Vincent and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Geraldine Botner; and a brother, Ben Botner.Funeral Services will be held at the Booneville Funeral Home, Booneville, KY at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2013 with Pastor Jerry Lacefield officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, April 26, 2013 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Wayne will be laid to rest on the family farm in the Botner Cemetery, located in the Travellers Rest Community of Owsley County.
