Booneville, KY - Lexene (Steppe) Moore, age 82; wife of Eugene, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the Owsley County Health Care Center.Lexene was born in the Highland community of Breathitt County, KY on March 25, 1931, a daughter of the late Carl and Martha (Johnson) Steppe. She was retired from the Owsley County Health Department of which she worked as a Home Health Aide. She was a member of the Women's Presbyterian Association, Owsley County Homemaker Association and served on the Regional Health Department Board. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, singing in the church choir, playing rook, spending time with her grandchildren, and she was a member of the Cow Creek Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years; 2 sons; Maurice (Louise) Moore of Somerset, KY and Jeff (Lara) Moore of Chicago, IL, 3 daughters; Carol (Earl) Gabbard of Richmond, KY, Susan Sebastian of Booneville, KY and Frances Johnson of Richmond, KY, 1 brother; Frank (Deana)Steppe of Mt. Sterling, KY, 1 sister; Kay Combs of Booneville, KY, 5 grandchildren; Carrie (Mike) Gilboy, Bridget Sebastian, Justin Moore, Kyle Moore and Deanna Johnson, special 1st cousin; Martha Browning of Milford, OH, a brother-in-law; John C. Hensley, a sister-in-law; Ruth Steppe, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.Lexene was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son; Gary Moore, 3 sisters; Irene Green, Faye Hensley and Lois Reynolds, 1 brother; Carl Steppe Jr.Funeral Services will be held at the Cow Creek Presbyterian Church at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 with Reverend Joe Powlas and Reverend Terry Sandlin officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Booneville Funeral Home. Lexene will be laid to rest at the Callahan Cemetery located in the Cow Creek community of Owsley County. To leave the family a special message visit www.boonevillekyfuneralhome.com.
