Donald Lee Klesa Obituary

Donald Lee Klesa, of Cincinnati, Ohio, entered into eternal rest on May 2, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born in Akron, Ohio on February 11, 1952, and was the youngest of three born to Howard and Frances (nee Repp) Klesa. He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine (nee Atwell) Klesa; sister-in-law Lynn (nee Smith) Klesa; and his parents.

Don was a brilliant biologist who spent many years helping clients in the horticulture industry throughout New England build their wholesale and retail plant nurseries. He spent his later years developing his passion for the culinary arts at The Different Drummer's Kitchen in Massachusetts, and the Gourmet Galleria at Jungle Jim's International Market in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was an avid lover of reading, classic rock, and playing cards with his daughter and granddaughters. He loved educating others, and spent many hours teaching his granddaughters about the science and magic of biology and food.

Don is survived by his brother John Michael Klesa; sister and brother-in-law Cynthy and Frank Mandl; daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Jason Plummer; granddaughters Sarah, Morgan, Madison, and Abigail, who affectionately called him "Poppy"; his first wife Carol Beckwith; and many nieces and nephews. His ashes will be laid to rest in the garden he helped design at his daughter's home in Florida, amongst the plants and flowers he loved so much.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that native pollinators be planted in a place of your choosing, or donations be made to the Krohn Conservatory in Cincinnati, Ohio.
