Survived by his wife Beth, nee Hurter. Loving father and best buddy to Kevin (Corie) and Erin.  Baby brother to Claudia Goodwin, Mark, Dean ret. CFD, Kimball (Mary), Keenan (Sandy) Darren (Deanna), Greg (Jennifer), Nancy and the late Maureen (Pat ret. CFD) Stauffer. Funcle to many nieces and nephews.

Lifetime member of the “North Side Irish Crew”, “Legend of Saint Margaret Mary”. Childhood and best friend of many. Mayor of Edgebrook Golf Country Club. Respected longtime Chicago Fire Fighter.

In support of David, we teamed up with Glioblastoma Foundation to modify the current standard of care for patients with this cancer. Their mission is to replace radiation and chemotherapy with targeted small molecule therapies that prolong survival and increase quality of life. Their ultimate vision is to transform glioblastoma into a manageable chronic condition. We are excited to share that our efforts over the past year have directly helped fund a new Genomic Testing & Research Laboratory in Durham, North Carolina! The new lab will open on September 3rd, 2024, where David will be permanently remembered and honored for his contributions to help change the story for future patients of glioblastoma.

Visitation Sunday, May 19, 2024, 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, Peter Heneghan director, 6250 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago. Family and friends meeting Monday at 9:45 am at Holy Child Jesus Parish (Formerly St. Margaret Mary Church) 2324 W. Chase, Chicago. Funeral Mass 10:00 am. Interment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to our foundation team page and help us reach our goal of purchasing a key piece of equipment for this new lab in his name!
