Giancarlo (GG, Dad, Nonno) Giannangeli died peacefully in the early morning of Wednesday, November 29th, 2023. He was a lifelong resident of Westchester County and a native of Italy.Giancarlo was born November 4th,1937, in Asmara, Ethiopia (Eritrea), to the late Salvatore andMaria (Capuano) Giannangeli. The youngest of five siblings, he is predeceased by his brothers Nicola and Marino and sisters Franca and Enrica. Giancarlo grew up in Naples, Italy and lived there until his transatlantic move to the United States at 18 years old. He came to New York and then entered the United States Army and would later return to Italy toenter and graduate from theUniversity of Padua, School of Medicine. Upon returning to the United States, he ran a successful practice in New Rochelle, NY where he specialized in internal medicine for nearly 40 years. He was a prominent doctor in the community and served as a physician for the local police and fire departments. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Joanne (Gaudio) Giannangeli, their son Christian Giannangeli and fianc Amanda Michnowski. He is also survived by his two daughters Claudia (Giannangeli) Dunsmore, her husband William; grandchildren Samantha, Olivia and Cooper Dunsmore, and daughter Marina (Giannangeli) Zavory, her husband Michael; grandchildren Sofia and Charlotte Zavory. He will be missed by his many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Giancarlo enjoyed studying wine and became a sommelier. He loved his pet dogs Jackie, Oliver and Radley. He had a deep connection and passion for his native Italy, where he returned many times to visit family and enjoyed the culture he cherished. He was multilingual, speaking 5 languages. A celebration of life will take place from 1:30 to 2:30pm on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at Ferncliff Memorial Chapel in Hartsdale, New York. To commemorate Giancarlo's service and dedication to his country, the United States Army Honor Guard will be present to perform military honors.
