Dolores Ann Ferri Obituary

Dolores Ferri was born in the Bronx, New York to the proud parents of Walter and Theresa Gilson on April 22, 1940. She was the second of two children. Dolores attended Evander Child High School in the Bronx where she skipped a grade and proudly achieved 100s in Home Economics, foreshadowing her love of creating an orderly, clean and well-managed home. She got engaged at her Senior Prom to the love of her life, Louis Ferri Junior, and they married soon after high school graduation. Dolores worked as a Medical Office Assistant and Louis worked as a cement mason. They had three children and lived in the Bronx, Yonkers, and then Mt Kisco. They enjoyed family vacations, Sunday afternoon gravy with the extended family, and she was proud of all her familys accomplishments. She was very loving caring and strong mother. After the death of her husband, she remained in their home in Mount Kisco, enjoying time with family and extended family and friends. She treated her sons wives as her own daughters and delighted over the birth of her Granddaughter, whose name she suggested should be Gabriella, and in turn the young Gabriella dubbed Dolores with her new name "Danny" when she couldnt pronounce the world "Granny." Dolores/"Danny" will be remembered for her sense of humor, her thoughtful hand-sewn gifts, her spinach feta pie, her Easter egg hunts, for always having candy in beautiful bowls in her home and for having bandaids, stamps, Kleenex (and anything you could ever need) in her purse. She was so warm and open-hearted that she found new friends wherever she went, including at swimming lessons, or riding the monorail at Disney World. Danny is survived by her honorary sister and life long friend Elaine Rieger, her three beautiful children Louis III, Linda, and Steven, by her dear daughters-in-laws, Lisa and Nan, by her beloved grand daughter Gabriella, and by a host of extended family members.
