Leonard Gilman Obituary

On September 2nd, Leonard Gilman passed away from congestive heart failure at age 89. He was preceded in death by his daughter Laurie and survived by his wife Annette and children, David and Lisa. Len moved to Chappaqua in 1960 to teach Physics at Horace Greeley High School. He left to work at IBM during which time he wrote a programming book, APL,: An Interactive Language, which was a big hit in the APL community, and tutored physics and math students part time. He returned to his passion, teaching upon retirement, working at The Elizabeth Irwin School, Convent of the Sacred Heart and Hendrick Hudson High School. Len served on the board of the Chappaqua Library and the Mount Kisco Concert Association. He enjoyed stamp collecting, was a member of the Three Garridebs for Sherlock Holmes devotees, loved attending theater and dance performances and traveled extensively.
