Robert J. Vanecek Obituary

Robert J. Vanecek, 90, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2019 at his home in North Salem. Born on October 24, 1928 to Mollie & Joseph Vanecek and raised in the Bronx, Robert married Marion J. Milyko, the love of his life on September 6, 1953. They moved to Elmsford, NY in 1957 and then to North Salem, NY in 1974 where they raised their family. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. He is survived by his four loving children, Donna L. Boroff; Robert J. Vanecek, Jr., his wife Deborah and their children, Madison, Kayla, Tyler Brenda J. Vanecek and Edward R. Vanecek, his wife Kathryn and their children Ryan, Lauryn & Emily. Robert, known to most as "Bob" was employed by the engineering firm Rose, Beaton & Rose for 38+ years until retiring in 1993. He was the Building Inspector of the Town of North Salem from 1976 to 1983. After retiring Marion and he enjoyed travelling the United States. Bob had many interests but his favorite was to make people laugh. He made friends easily and with his quick wit he was never without a joke to make everyone around him smile. We will cherish each and every joke he told. A devoted husband, he spent all of his free time with his wife, Marion, of 60 years until her untimely death on May 22, 2011. He loved spending time with his family, telling stories and sharing memories of his life. His adoring love for his children, grandchildren and grand dogs was surpass…he had a special place in his heart for all God's creatures. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to his beloved caretaker, Desreen aka "Tangerine", who had cared for him the past 9 months. We will gather to celebrate the life of our Father on Saturday, October 26th, 2019 @ 1PM at the St. James Episcopal Church in North Salem, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, SW, Lilburn, GA 30047 (website: lbda.org) or the Putnam Humane Society, PO Box 297, Carmel, NY 10512 (website: puthumane.org)
