Stanley M. Bernstein Obituary

Stanley M. Bernstein, age 80 died on June 11, 2015 after a long illness, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 6, 1935 in The Bronx, NY and has been a 45 year resident of Mt. Kisco. Stanley was very involved in local government. He was a long time member of the Mt. Kisco Planning Board and the Board of Marsh Sanctuary. His passion was environmental issues in the town and greater area. Stanley was a lover of the arts. He was a member of The Bronx Botanical Gardens, the Bronx Zoo and the NY Museum of Natural History. He enjoyed attending the opera with his wife Marcia, as well as Broadway plays and ballets. He was a lover of classical music and made sure that he listened to it every chance he had. Stanley loved to travel, especially with his wife and four grandchildren. Each one of his grandchildren had the pleasure of joining him on trips out west. He enjoyed his later years with his son Cyrus and grandson Dominick, sharing his house in Mt. Kisco. Stanley is survived by his brother Richard Bernstein and his wife Sandy of Prescott Valley, AZ; sister Jody Bernstein of Prescott Valley, AZ;; daughter Judy Rosentel,and husband Steve ,of Sandy Hook, CT; son Cyrus Bernstein of Mt. Kisco, and daughter Hilary Maxwell, and husband Ron of NYC. He is also survived by his grandchildren Charles Rosentel of Chicago, IL; Amy Rosentel of Sandy Hook, CT; Dominick Bernstein of Mt. Kisco and William Maxwell of NYC; several nieces and nephews and many close friends. Stanley was pre-deceased by his wife Marcia Rolnick Bernstein; his brother Leslie Paul Bernstein; his father Charles Bernstein and his mother Bess Bernstein. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday, June 14 at King David Memorial Chapel at the Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home, 288 East Main St., Mt. Kisco, NY. Interment will be at King David Cemetery, 101 Mill St., Putnam Valley, NY, immediately following the service.
