Giovanna "Jean" Carrozza. Jean Carrozza died Saturday January 4, 2014 after a long illness, peacefully at her home in Thornwood, surrounded by her family. She was born in Solano, Italy on December 1, 1927 to Annunziato and Angelina Carrozza. She earned a teaching degree in Italy and emigrated to the United States in 1947, with her mother and brother to join her father. She married the late classical accordionist Carmelo Carrozza in June 1950 and had two children and four grandchildren. She and her husband settled in Thornwood in 1958 and they remained lifelong residents. Jean worked as a teacher's aide in the Chappaqua School system for 15 years, a job she truly loved. She was a beloved mother, mother in law, grandmother, loving sister, sister in law, aunt, and caring friend. She is survived by her daughter Marianne Carrozza Smith (Larry Smith) of Thornwood, NY, her son Carmen Carrozza (Adriana Shepherd Carrozza) of Pawling, NY, grandchildren: Joseph of Mt. Kisco, NY, Sofia, Derek, and Lucas of Pawling, NY, her brother Pasquale of Somers, NY and 23 nieces and nephews. Viewing will be at the Cassidy - Flynn Funeral Home Inc. 288 East Main St. Mt. Kisco, NY, Tuesday January 7, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday morning at Holy Rosary Church, Thorwood. Burial to follow at All Souls Cemetery, Pleasantville.
