Patrick J. Stack Obituary

The Stack family is greatly saddened to announce the death of Patrick Joseph Stack of Mount Kisco, NY. Patrick passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7th with his devoted wife of 60 years, Kathleen, by his side. He was 89 years old.

Born November 8,1934 in Loughill Limerick into a loving family of seven children to Patrick Stack and Ann Stack ( nee Kartney ) Pat loved to tell stories of his early life in Ireland, an enchanting land filled with majestic mountains, and lush, green open fields. Ireland always stayed close in his heart as you could hear in his accent. When he was a young man however his adventurous spirit led him to travel to America in 1961. He went to a dance one night in Manhattan where he met his beloved wife, Kathleen, from County Mayo. The young couple married and had three children: Joan, Patrick Jr., and Catherine. Pat worked hard in his newly adopted country in those early years to provide for his family which he raised in Woodside, Queens. He is remembered by his loving children as a humble, kindhearted, and gentle soul.

He was a man who loved being out in nature. He would often spend hours going on long walks, appreciating the fall foliage each season. Kathleen, his wife, would laugh when she would reach into his pocket, only to find them filled with changing-colored leaves. Pat had a keen sense of humor and was always quick to have a good laugh. One of his greatest joys however was watching Irish football, he never missed a game. Up Limerick!

He was an avid reader with a curious mind who could often be found with a travel or history book in hand. People enjoyed being in his company because his spirit radiated a kindness and gentleness not often found. He greeted all who came along his path with a good word, warm smile, and respectful nod.

He was a compassionate soul who always listened without passing judgement. His greatest legacy could be found in the many life lessons and good values he passed along to his children.

In his retirement years, he moved to Mount Kisco to be close to his grandchildren whom he adored. It gave him great joy and comfort to be surrounded by his family.

Surviving Pat are his loving wife Kathleen Stack, his daughter Joan Mahoney ( nee Stack ), son, Patrick Stack and his youngest daughter Catherine Stack.

And his grandchildren Emily Stack, Hannah Stack, Michael Mahoney, Kate Mahoney, Hunter Stack and Harper Stack

Patrick was pre-deceased by sisters Peg, Liz, and May and brothers Robbie and Mossie. He is kindly remembered by his sister Joan Brandon and his many nephews and nieces back home in Limerick, Ireland; all of whom he loved to remain in frequent contact with through many calls, cards, and letters passed between throughout the years.

Pat was a wonderful husband, loving father, and adoring grandfather. He was also a man of great integrity and of strong Catholic faith. In the early morning hours of September 7th, as the clouds lifted to usher him into heaven, a deep void was left here on earth. A void that can now only be filled with the lifetime of great memories he left his family to cherish. Pat will be greatly missed but never forgotten for he lives on in the heart of every member of his loving family.
