Velia Fava Obituary

Velia Fava passed peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2015 in the care and love of her family at Northern Westchester Hospital, Mt. Kisco, NY. Velia Fava was born in Calabria, Italy on September 1, 1931 to the late Serafino and Grazia Bueti. Velia moved to Chappaqua, NY with her family and married her beloved Diego Fava with whom she had two children. She was the loving mother to the late Rocco Fava and her surviving son, Serafino Fava. In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, and caretaker to many, Velia ran a daycare center. The youngest of eight children, Velia is survived by two brothers, Dick Bueti of Pawling, N.Y. and Sam Bueti of Chappaqua, N.Y. She helped raise her two grandchildren, Richard Fava of Madison, Wisconsin and Kasey Fava of Boston, Massachussetts. She also helped raise Martha Rossi McDermott of Katonah, NY. Everyone who was fortunate enough to know Velia came to appreciate her joy for life and passion for cooking. You never left hungry and were always sent with leftovers. Velia was one of the most warm and kind hearted people you could meet and loved all "A bushel and peck with a hug around their neck". A large extended family and numerous friends were blessed to know Velia. A wake will be held Thursday, June 11th from the hours of 7pm-9pm, Friday June 12th from the hours of 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. At Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home Inc. A Roman Catholic Mass will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at The Church of St. John and St. Mary, 30 Poillon Drive, Chappaqua, NY at 10am followed by burial at St. Francis Cemetery, Mt.
