Joanne Ballengee Obituary

. Joanne Ballengee was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 15, 1937. Mom lived in Holy Innocents Parish and went to Catholic School there. As she would say, she grew up in Brooklyn at a time when people would park their cars on Flatbush Avenue to listen to games when the Dodgers were in the World Series. Joanne graduated from Mt. St. Vincent's College in Riverdale, NY and worked as a Nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan. She met Bob at a dance in New York City. They were married at Holy Innocents in 1961. They did everything together for the next 55 years. She was proud of her Irish Heritage. Some of her happiest times were on vacations with Bob to Ireland. They loved going to hear Irish bands play. Joanne and Bob raised their three children Eileen, Mike and James in Hartsdale and Armonk, NY. Joanne spent many years volunteering at Sacred Heart Church and School in Hartsdale. After she raised her family Joanne lived her Catholic Faith and loved her neighbor by volunteering at and serving as President of the Inter Faith Food Pantry in Pleasantville. She was very passionate about this mission and loved serving there. Grandma loved Erin, Lauren and Tyler. She cherished taking Erin and Lauren to the park in Armonk. She looked forward to sharing tea time with the girls and the teddy bears who attended, playing games for hours on end and reading their bedtime stories. She loved special events at their school and couldn't wait for weekly updates on what the kids were doing and the ‘girlie D R A M A' at school. Joanne and Tyler loved visiting New York City, the Bronx Zoo and the Opryland Hotel but mostly just visiting and laughing. Grandma was very proud of the gentleman that Tyler became. She was thrilled and happy for Tyler that he had achieved his dream of going back to finish school. At the Fol de Rol in Armonk this year they had a great time watching the racing pigs. Joanne had very strong faith and was an active Parishioner at St. Patrick's Church in Armonk. Even when she had crosses to bear Joanne had a smile, a great sense of humor and a kind word for everyone. She loved her husband Bob dearly and was a loving Mother, Grandmother and devoted friend to all who knew her. We are grateful for her life. Visitation Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home Inc.
