Kenneth R. Finn

Kenneth Robert Finn, age 71, of Bedford, New York died on December 14, 2016 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N. Y. of heart failure. Ken grew up in Swampscott and later in Newton, Massachusetts where he attended Newton South High School. Ken was a graduate of MIT with an electrical engineering degree in 1967 and an MBA in marketing from the Sloan School of Business at MIT in 1969. Ken was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. His business career started with General Foods in White Plains, N.Y. as an internal marketing consultant. Upon leaving General Foods he founded his marketing company, The Gemini Group, and worked with major corporations to develop marketing strategies for high technology companies. Ken loved to maintain his property in Bedford which was rich in foliage and steeped in history. Engines, meters and tools of all kinds fascinated him and fixing and restoring all kinds of things was always a challenge. Ken loved his friends and the groups he belonged to: The Greenwich Club, The Pickwick Society, and The Darien Cotillion. He enjoyed music and loved to dance. The seven books of poetry he published were inspired by the people he knew and loved as well as a certain chipmunk. Ken is survived by his loving partner of 19 years, Meriel Rutherford, his sister and brother-in-law, Dorey and Robert Scott, his niece, Kimberley, and his cousin, Robert Zimmerman, Michael Alterman whom he helped raise, as well as Meriel's sons, David (Roseann), Peter (Angela), and Kevin (Heather) and the grandchildren Ken came to consider his own, Austin, Ashleigh, Allie, and Annie. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 2nd, 2017 at 11:00am at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT 06905. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215. Memorial Service Leo P.
