Robert W. Ort Obituary

Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family of Robert W. Ort, we offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Robert W. Ort - born in Gloversville, New York on July 12, 1934 and a long time resident of Bedford Hills, New York, passed away on June 21, 2023. He was married to Catherine Ort on December 26, 1964 and her passing was on June 21, 2005. Robert was pre-deceased by four sisters (Doris, Mildred, Marion, Shirley) and two brothers (John, Alvin). Known to everybody as Uncle Bob, he was always telling jokes, helping other people, donating his time and money to his community and his church and his many nieces and nephews. Uncle Bob was a graduate of Mayfield Central School in 1952. In his later years, he pursued a degree from Westchester Community College and a Bachelors degree from Henry College. He had 32 years at Grasslands Prison facility in Westchester, as a corrections officer. He was a long time member of the Farmers Club. He loved tinkering with stuff, but probably never got any one thing completed. He was more of a collector. Challenged with congestive heart failure over the last four or five months, he was in and out of Lutheran Care Center & Vassar Brothers hospital where he eventually lost the battle. Thank you to the nursing home facility, the hospital and Hospice for all of their support. There will be a church service on July 5, 2023 at 10 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 292 Elwood Ave., Hawthorne, New York 10532. Following the service we will proceed to Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville, New York for a grave side service at 3 PM. Any donations can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 292 Elwood Ave., Hawthorne, NY 10532. Uncle Bob will be missed by many and Uncle Bobs signing off with his favorite Over and Out!
