Carmela Bueti Obituary

Carmela Bueti was born in Solano Superiore, Reggio di Calabria, Italy to proud parents Serafino and Maria Cambareri on December 26th, 1941. She was the fourth of five children. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1955 at age 13. After settling in Mount Kisco, Carmela attended St. Francis Elementary School and Mount Kisco High School, before being a part of the second graduating class of Fox Lane High School. Out of high school, she worked at the National Bank of Westchester as an accounting assistant. When she was 19, Carmela met the love of her life, Nicola Serafino (Saro) Bueti and they were married on July 21st, 1963. They had two daughters, Jean and Maria, whom they raised in Mount Kisco. Together with their cousins, Carmela and Saro bought Village Cleaners and Tailors in Bedford, which has been a pillar of the community since its opening in 1963. Carmela worked alongside her husband at the cleaners for many years until she retired to help raise her grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for her intelligence, unwavering strength and genuine kindness. She was incredibly well-read and knowledgeable about current events and the world around her. Carmela was known to show her love for her family through food, and cooking for her children and grandchildren was one of the things that gave her the most joy in life. She loved having coffee with her older sister Angela every morning, watching soap operas and reading the news. Her favorite place on earth was Aruba, where she spent some of her happiest moments with her family, walking along the beach, reading in the shade and going to the casino. She passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024, at age 82, with her family by her side, after years of health challenges. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Saro and her beloved daughter Jean. She leaves to mourn her passing her caring daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Carmelo; her son-in-law Paul; her grandchildren, Nicola, Tim, Jean and Francesca; her two sisters Angela (Carmelo) and Antonia; her sister-in-law Girolama, and a host of other family and friends who will miss her dearly.
